The Man Who Murdered A Wisconsin Doctor And Her Husband Is Sentenced To Life In Prison

The man convicted in the fatal shooting of a University of Wisconsin health practitioner and her husband in the school’s arboretum was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday without parole.

Khari Sanford kidnapped Dr Beth Potter, who is 52, and Robin Carre, aged 57, at gunpoint from their Madison home on March 30, 2020, and took them to the UW Arboretum, where he shot both of them in the head. He was convicted of counts of first-degree intentional murder.

Sanford, who is 21years old, has been residing with his girlfriend, the couple’s daughter — in their home till tensions rose over coronavirus precautions. That caused Potter and Carre to quickly rent a place for Sanford and their daughter till they found a permanent apartment.

What I do realize is that currently, you’ve got utter disregard for human life. Everybody withinside the public, irrespective of how kind they’re to you, regardless of how beneficial they’re to you, irrespective of how much they are trying to assist you, they’re vulnerable to being killed by you,” the judge stated.

Sanford told the judge that Potter and Carre saw his ability and took him in. He stated the couple’s daughter, Miriam Carre, had shown him for the first time in his life what “unconditional love is all about “If taking my life is what it will take to repay them, to resolve the grievances of this beautiful family and define justice, I will be honoured, your honour. Take it,” Sanford said.

Elijah Larrue, Sanford’s friend with him when the couple was killed, pleaded guilty to the murder last year. He testified that he did not realize Sanford planned to kill the couple. He has not yet been sentenced.
