According to Colorado police, “incendiary devices” were discovered at a Jehovah’s Witness hall following the apparent murder-suicide of a married couple there on Christmas Day.
According to police, “an adult female was shot and killed by an adult male, who then shot and killed himself,” according to a statement issued on Sunday.
The two were former members of the congregation, according to police in Thornton, about 10 miles north of Denver.
Officers were initially dispatched to the scene following reports of a fire.
The devices had been rendered safe, according to police, who added that there were no additional suspects.
“No other people were injured as a result of this incident,” they said.
The identities of those killed will be released later by the Adams County Coroner’s Office, according to police.
“This kind of violence is always shocking, but particularly on Christmas Day,” Thornton Mayor Jan Kulmann said in a tweet.
